About New Britain Academies Foundation

The New  Britain Academies Foundation Board of Trustees are the fiduciaries who steer the organization towards a sustainable future.  They ensure that Academy students are equipped with adequate resources to further the work necessary for student success, and maks sure sure sound policies are in place. 

 The academy programs within the New Britain Public Schools provide students with the opportunity to take advantage of a smaller learning community, a targeted college-preparatory curriculum that is related to the student's intended career field, and access to working and learning relationships with employers, with the student's community, and with institutions of higher learning that are all coordinated by the academy to further the opportunities available to the students. Allacademy programs emphasize 21st-century skills including critical thinking, communication, collaboration, and creativity while maintaining strong connections to local industry partners who provide mentorship, internships, and potential employment opportunities 

Founded in 2018, New Britain Academies Foundation has been working tirelessly to help students  in what started out as 1 Academy at New Britain High School to currently 4 Academies.  They are, the New Britain Academy of Business & Finance ("AoBF"), the New Britain Academy of Health Sciences (AoHS) ") and the Academy of Manufacturing, Engineering, & Technology at New Britain High School ("AoMET") and the Academy of Public Service (AoPS) all of which provide students with a combination of school-based curricula and work-based experiences.  The AoHS was the first academy program to be offered to students in 2011. The AoBF was the first program affiliated with NAF and began formal operations to students in the New Britain Public Schools in 2013. The AoMET began operations in 2018, and the AoPS, began operation in 2022, focusing on a First Responder Pathway and Education. All four academies have earned distinguished status.

The New Britain Academies Foundation acts as a coordinated leadership, administrative, and fundraising body in support of the efforts of the four existing New Britain based academy programs. It will coordinate efforts to provide additional academy activities for the programs within the New Britain Public Schools should the opportunity to do so become available, and should the New Britain Public Schools decide that sufficient interest and support exist to sustain an additional career academy program. The operations of the four academies are currently dispersed throughout the New Britain Public School system
